Behavioral Health Services (CYBHI) – Lakeside Union School District

Behavioral Health Services (CYBHI)

Behavioral Health Services for Our Students

Lakeside Union School District has joined a California state program called the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI). The goal is simple: to make sure students can easily get help for mental health and substance use needs right here at school, whenever they need it.

By bringing these services directly to our campuses, we are making it safer, easier, and faster for students to get the care and support they deserve.

How It Works

  • Zero Cost for Families: Families do not pay anything out-of-pocket. There are no copays or deductibles, and using these services will not change or lower your personal health insurance plan.
  • Funding for Our Schools: California is allowing schools to bill insurance companies and Medi-Cal for health services we already provide on campus. This gives our school district steady funding so we can keep offering these important student support programs long-term.
  • Who Is Covered: Public school students (from TK through college) under the age of 26 who have Medi-Cal or private health insurance.

Important Information for Families

  • No cost to families.
  • No co-pay or out-of-pocket expenses.
  • No change to your insurance benefits.
  • Information is confidential and protected under FERPA and HIPAA.
  • Students can continue receiving supports regardless of participation.
