Students at any of the nine Lakeside Union schools are taught in safe physical and socio-emotional environments. We want parents who entrust us with their child to know that we care deeply not only about their wellbeing, but also preparing them to be equipped for their future, whatever education or career path they may follow. If you’re already part of the LUSD family, you know just how amazing our schools are. If you’re new to us, please explore our site and contact us to enroll today!

California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS)

This year LUSD will implement the student, staff and parent CHKS surveys between November 1st and November 12th. The California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) is an anonymous, confidential survey of school climate and safety, student wellness, and youth resiliency. It is administered to students at grades five, seven, nine, and eleven. It enables schools and communities to collect and analyze data regarding local youth health risks and behaviors, school connectedness, school climate, protective factors, and school violence. The CHKS is part of a comprehensive data-driven decision-making process on improving school climate and student learning environment for overall school improvements.

Many of our LCAP goals are determined and monitored using CHKS data and sites use the data to identify strengths and needs for their unique school population. Students in 5th and 7th grade are invited to participate in the student survey and we encourage all staff members and parents to also take the survey so we have a well-rounded view of perceptions and needs across our system.

For any questions about the administration of these annual surveys, please reach out to Dr. Patricia Fernandez at pfernandez@lsusd.net

Flex School For Online or Hybrid Learning

LUSD has built an option for students who need more flexibility than what our traditional, 5 day a week, in-person instruction offers. Students receive synchronous instruction for all grade levels and live interaction for grades 4-8. If requested, transition back to in-person learning may be made within 5 days. Please contact Kelly Gilbert at (619) 457-2021 for a meeting!

This notice shall include written information on the local educational agency’s internet website, including, but not limited to, the right to request a pupil-parent-educator conference meeting before enrollment pursuant to this section, pupil rights regarding procedures for enrolling, disenrolling, and reenrolling in independent study, and the synchronous and asynchronous instructional time that a pupil will have access to as part of independent study. If 15 percent or more of the pupils enrolled in a local educational agency that provides instruction in transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, or any of grades 1 to 12, inclusive, speak a single primary language other than English, as determined from the census data submitted to the department pursuant to Section 52164 in the preceding year, the written information shall, in addition to being written in English, be written in the primary language.
