Lakeside Union School District students added up all of their efforts to raise and donate $500 to the San Diego Red Cross Wildfire Fund! The initiative came from a math contest run through Imagine Learning, an organization that promotes “rigorous and equitable development of language that accelerates learning across all subjects, transforming students into stronger and more confident learners.”
While Imagine Learning runs unique math contests throughout the year, this particular challenge encouraged kids to solve problems correctly to earn “think points.” These “think points” were then counted towards raising money for the chosen charity of the district, in this case, the Red Cross Wildfire Fund. For each think point earned in the Imagine Learning app, the organization donated $1 to charity. Lakeside Union School District was able to combine their sharp math skills and raise $500 for a charity they care about that supports their community!
The chosen charity, the Red Cross Wildfire Fund, assists areas and people affected by wildfire disasters by providing shelter, meals, relief supplies, medical care, and more. Their efforts help rebuild lives and communities during tough times. Students at the Lakeside Union School district are helping make a difference with their contribution to this great cause! The district is proud of all of the efforts of teachers and students to accomplish this great goal.
