Lakeside Union School District’s DREAM Academy
Located in the heart of East County, DREAM Academy is a beacon of innovative education, offering a transformative experience for students in San Diego County. It opened as a homeschool program tailored to meet the unique needs of families seeking a personalized approach to education. It has since transformed into DREAM Academy, a comprehensive educational offering combining online and in-person options and unparalleled flexibility to achieve success for Kindergarten through 8th grade students.
DREAM Academy offers two distinct programs to cater to different student needs, attracting families from all over the county. The homeschool program provides flexibility and individualized attention, while the 5-day in-person program ensures a small classroom environment that thrives on shared learning experiences with students across grade levels, enriching the leadership and collaboration experience.
What sets DREAM Academy apart is its unique focus on the acronym DREAM: Design, Research, Engineering, Agriculture, and Mechanics. These pillars form the foundation of the school’s engaging projects, tailored to match the interests and needs of each student. By integrating agricultural education into the elementary level, DREAM Academy sets the stage for students to seamlessly transition to actively participate in Lakeside’s nationally renowned Future Farmers of America program at El Capitan High School.
DREAM Academy believes education should be a catalyst for dreams, a springboard to unlock every student’s potential. By embracing Project Based Learning and a forward-thinking approach, DREAM Academy is shaping tomorrow’s leaders, innovators, and problem solvers. Through its transformative programs, this remarkable institution is building a brighter future for East County, one student, and one dream at a time.
