Lakeside Union School District’s DREAM Academy
DREAM Academy builds competence, critical thinking, creativity, and communication in all learners. DREAM Academy is a part of Lakeside Union School District’s commitment to academic excellence, a rich and varied curriculum, and innovative learning through project-based learning while focusing on our board goals of promoting academic achievement, socio-emotional wellbeing, and physical environments that support student learning. DREAM Academy is an excellent option for students to be a part of our award-winning school district when attending five full school days each week is not the ideal option for you.
Ideal Learning Environment
DREAM Academy is located at Eucalyptus Hills School. Many students find that they prefer learning independently to that of the traditional school model. While certain students may thrive under the social environment of a traditional school, some students find themselves distracted or overwhelmed by the large school setting. In addition, families often want their student’s education to be personalized based on their child’s abilities, passions, interests, and strengths and weaknesses, and might also be interested in smaller class sizes. Furthermore, some students have anxieties, health restrictions, and life changing events that make DREAM Academy the more nurturing learning environment, making us the perfect option to meet permanent or temporary needs.
Flexibility of Schedule
DREAM Academy is not guided by bells, so students can create their own learning schedule that will allow them to study at times that better fit their family’s needs.
- Students have the option of coming to campus for class three days a week for Project Based Learning.
- Parents and/or students can meet with their Academy teacher for questions and student progress support.
- Students in grades 6-8th can participate in 1-2 classes at either of the Lakeside Union School District middle school sites (Tierra Del Sol Middle School and Lakeside Middle School).
Academy students can participate in any of Lakeside Union School District’s vast array of enrichment opportunities. DREAM Academy students can take any after school programs offered at any Lakeside school.
STEM-focused Project Based Learning opportunities are offered during in-person learning three days a week. Students will learn core content and develop knowledge and skills through engaging projects set around challenges and problems they may face in the real world.
DREAM Academy teachers are available Monday through Friday from 8:30am-2:30pm in the classroom at Eucalyptus Hills School. Academy teachers are available to support students, monitor and review assignments, discuss areas of concern, and provide parents with feedback and guidance about progress during each learning period.
