Language Requirements

A language assessment is administered to all students for the immersion programs.
Students applying in kindergarten and first grade must be:

  • fluent in English for the Spanish Immersion Program; or
  • fluent in English or Mandarin for the Mandarin Dual Immersion Program.

Students entering after first grade must also demonstrate literacy levels comparable to those achieved by immersion students at that grade level in:

  • Spanish and English for the Spanish Immersion Program; or
  • Mandarin and English for the Mandarin Dual Immersion Program.
