Welcome

Welcome to Winter Gardens Elementary campus. We are home to Riverview International Academy for Kindergarten and First Grade.  We are very excited to welcome everyone to the 2020-2021 school year! 

Our school offers a Dual Immersion Program with a One-Way Model in either Spanish Immersion or Mandarin Immersion.  Spanish Immersion is currently a 100% in Spanish experience.  Mandarin Immersion is 50% English and 50% Mandarin.  

Both programs offer a third language enrichment option to prepare our students to become global citizens with multi-linguistic 21st Century skills.  

Our site engages students on the 7 Keys of Excellence; preparing them to be transformative leaders in their inner and extended global community. 

Guided by Restorative Practices and Cultural Proficiency, our site assists students with conflict-resolution and assimilation practices to help them become compassionate, team-players, solution-seeking 21st Century employees employers seek.

Registration is required for the following students:

  • Incoming Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Students (TK is ONLY for those who turn 5 between September 2 and December 2, 2021)
  • Incoming Kindergarten Students
  • Incoming Students NEW to LUSD
  • Incoming Students RETURNING to LUSD after attending another district.

A Message from the Kindergarten and First Grade Teaching Teams

  1. Provide a change of clothes to be kept in your child's backpack, just in case...
  2. Students must wear closed-toed shoes to school.
  3. Hats and hoods may be worn for sun protection outside only!
  4. Provide a snack and lunch each packed separately and labeled with your child's name. 
  5. School lunch application can be completed online for free and reduced-price meals http://lsusd.heartlandapps.com
  6. The school cafeteria menu is available monthly on our school district's web site.
