• Welcome to 5th Grade!

The 5th grade team is working hard to help students improve in all academic areas while building 21st century skills such as: communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity. Our programs and curriculum are designed to address the needs of each student.

Our reading intervention program, Read 180 and System 44, targets reading foundation skills to help students decode and comprehend at their reading level. We are delving farther into our Math curriculum, EveryDay Math. This curriculum is aligned with the Common Core Math standards to prepare students for real-life problem solving. Mrs. Walker, our intervention teacher has taken on more roles this year by working not only with our reading program, but also helping struggling writers and teaching social studies. In addition, all of our 5th graders are trained to teach the NEW Next Generation Science Standards. We are excited to bring new teaching strategies and hands-on learning experiences in Science back to our classrooms.

Our 4th and 5th grade team believes in a well-rounded curriculum so we have designed a day of rotations on Fridays to incorporate Dance, Art and P.E. These classes are an opportunity for students to express their creativity in interactive ways.

We're looking forward to a great year!
