At Riverview, technology is considered a 4th language. Our philosophy is to view technology as an educational tool to be used creatively, responsibly, and collaboratively for teaching and learning. Each classroom is equipped with student computers as well as interactive whiteboards and document cameras. Our computer lab is located in room K2 and includes 30 Macs. All second and third grade teachers at Riverview use iPads in the classroom to increase learning outcomes, in order to solve problems, and to access, analyze, present, and communicate information. Depending on grade level, students will work on tech based projects including documentaries, writing and illustrating stories, creating computer based art, and creating digital tables and graphs.
Much of this technology is thanks to the 2008 Prop V bond which has allowed for the purchase of computers, iPads, and iPods and provided funds to equip all Lakeside classrooms with SmartBoard interactive whiteboards, document cameras and wireless internet.
