The Curriculum and Instruction Department supervises and plans all aspects of the curriculum, instruction, and student services for all LUSD elementary (K-5) and middle (6-8) schools. It is responsible for supervising the implementation of rigorous instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, History-Social Studies, Physical Education, the Arts and world languages through immersion and enrichment. As a part of this responsibility, integration of technology/digital literacy in all classrooms is supported, while also assisting administrators and other district staff in their pursuit of technological competence and efficacy in the 21st century.
Principals, teachers and all district support staff diligently work to ensure that all children have access to high quality curriculum that will prepare them for high school, vocational school/college, and a global economy.
Our children are the world's greatest resource. LUSD students are so valued we do whatever it takes for all students to share responsibility for their learning and to have the opportunity to reach their potential as productive members of this and the future global society.
